One of our conversation partners, Robyn, who lead a tour to Cambodia and Laos in 2016 has kept a strong relationship with the organisations that she visited and experienced. Today Robyn is happy to share that the Green Organic Farm in Luang Prabang are now ready for groups from Uniting Journeys or individuals.

“I visited Ken at Luang Prabang at House of Dreams where our UJ group assisted by helping the students with homework, and English language skills. We also visited a community library, where we taught novice monks conversational English”.
In addition to the House of Dreams NFP project, Ken has developed a social enterprise at his village, 40 km from Luang Prabang.
It is in a beautiful location, beside the Num Pa River, with fertile soil to grow vegetables, fruit and herbs. The Green Organic farm produces vegetables without harming the precious environment and without chemical or artificial fertilizers.
Visitors to the farm can get involved in activities in the village, learning traditional agricultural methods and traditional cooking classes with organic produce.
Ken is now ready to host UJ groups or individuals in both locations, to experience an authentic village farm, and also to visit Luang Prabang, assisting the House of Dreams.
Please see website and facebook page
“I was really inspired by this motivated young man, who was once a monk. He is giving promising students from poor villages a chance to receive an education. This, linked to the authentic farm experience, which gives locals a chance to become self-sufficient, protect their environment and promote sustainable travel. I encourage you to visit this World Heritage site and enjoy culture, food and hospitality”.

How great to hear that some areas in Cambodia and Thailand and many more countries are signing up for Plastic Free July!
When travelling take a refillable water bottle & take or buy reusable shopping bags as you will be surprised just what they pack in them (hot coffee) and how many you end up with.
What’s your handy hint on limiting plastic whilst travelling?
