What was your ‘most’ memorable moment on your Uniting Journey to Sri Lanka?
“It would have to be Kataragama during a full moon festival with roughly 150,000 Tamil Hindu pilgrims from the north and east and 200,000 Buddhist devotees predominantly from the south meeting together in the one place to observe their traditions and spiritual beliefs.
And then, realising they’ve been doing that on this island for over 2,000 years! It was harmony at its best and to think that this festival continued even during some of the hardest years of the war was truly inspiring. It’s this story of spiritual diversity and harmony in Sri Lanka that I think needs to be told a lot more and really celebrated!”
